Hello everyone and welcome to another tech shortie where i show in under five minutes how to do something with your Mac that may you did, and maybe you didn’t know how to do. Today we’re talking about how to uninstall a program on a Mac. And we’re going to be going over three different methods. The first two are third party applications that I tend to recommend to my clients which you can download for free. Please use the links that I have provided for you in the description of this tutorial. You don’t want to Google these products.
And accidentally download something that’s trying to look like it’s really one of them when in fact, it is not. The third method is a very simple trick to remove apps that you’ve downloaded directly from the Mac App Store. So let’s begin! The first piece of software is called App Cleaner it’s made by a company called FreeMacSoft . It’s very simple to install. Just simply go here to where it says version 2.3and click. That’s going to put a copy of the software in your downloads folder and it’s good to go. You.
Do not need to run an installer or deal with any dmg files. go into finder.downloads.and it should be right at the top. Drag this into your Applications folder that way you have it in your computer so it’s easy to find. From there just double click. Now from here you’ll see we have Applications, Widgets, and Others. Others refers to plugins that you may have downloaded while surfing on the web. If you remove these files please proceed with caution. Widgets: those would be those little funky things like what you see on my.
Screen and i think maybe half of them work. it’s one of those things they should have probably discontinued ages ago. If you do want to remove them you can simply check the box here and hit search. And deleteon the next screen. Although you don’t really need to and frankly, these don’t take up much space. And then we have Applications. Now this is not perfect for every type of Application, but for a lot of them it is. So if I wanted to remove Abby Fine Reader I’d just click the box here. Hit search. And check it out,.
It also found all those little library files. the one piece of software this is not good for other than things you downloaded from the App store are software that I would refer to as pesky ware. Now I can’t say the names of these companies although you all are welcome to mention their names in the comments section below. These would be pieces of software that have tricked you into thinking you need them that you in fact do not. So, this software once again is free. It’s called DetectX and its made by a company named Sqwarq says.
It funny at least that’s how i pretend you pronounce it. once again, one click to download it, drag it into your Applications folder and this is what it looks like. Now forgive me, I have to blur the names of the companies that are about to be shown because if I do show them, they have a tendency to come after me. So, from here what you’re going to do is click on this little drop down menu and select all searches. That way, if there is anything in your computer that probably shouldn’t be, you can find it. search.
If it does find anything it’s going to show you where it’s hiding and you can very easily delete it. Ok? The final trick we’re going over today is if you have downloaded an App from the Mac App Store. All you have to do is go into launchpad so you see this kind of screen. And you’re going to click and hold down on any of these apps. It really doesn’t matter which one you choose. This is the same way you remove an App from an iPhone or iPad. They start to jiggle and the ones that you can remove that were installed through the.
